RESSOURCES FOR Zelda’s COSTUME (Twilight Princess version)
This page will link all the materials, patterns and ressources I used on my Princess Zelda costume, inspired by the The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess.
THE PATTERN
I drafted my own pattern from scratch. I used a princess seam for the bust, and to add volume I added triangles at the bottom between each panels (it’s called godets).Â
Below the dress I put a petticoat without boning (just fabric). It helps having volume while keeping fluidity !
Â
The purple part is also drafted from scratch, I boned it entirely to make it sturdy.Â
THE ARMORS
I 3d modelled the shoulder armor for Zelda. It is printed in PLA + from Sunlu.
Then I sanded, primed and painted it. You can find the 3D models here : CLICK HERE
THE JEWELS
I 3d modelled the jewels and crown for Zelda. It is printed in ABS-like resin from Sunlu.
Then I sanded, primed and painted it. You can find the 3D models here : CLICK HERE
THE SWORD
I 3d modelled the sword for Zelda. It is printed in PLA + for the blade and the handle, and ABS-like resin for the guard. All from Sunlu.
Then I sanded, primed and painted it. You can find the 3D models here : CLICK HERE
THE FABRICS
I used 2 different fabrics.Â
The off-white fabric is a fake dupioni fabric. I got it at Fabric whole sale direct. The link to get it : CLICK HERE
I used around 6 meters of it if my memory is correct.
For the purple part, I used Silk noil (Bourrette Silk) I found in a parisian shop. I used 150cm of it
NOTIONS
For the gold pattern at the bottom of the dress, I used gold soutache braid. I first laid out and pinned the braid to create the pattern, then stitched the different pieces together while keeping the pattern separate from the dress. Once the entire motif was assembled and securely sewn, I carefully positioned it on the dress and hand-stitched it directly onto the fabric.
Almost all of the notions I used were purchased from shops in Paris, but you may be able to find similar materials on AliExpress.
Â
THE TABARD
I gradient-dyed a white cotton fabric, then sewed a green/khaki cotton fabric over it. I hand-cut the gold pleather pieces and sewed them on using a straight stitch.
I hand-embroidered the purple details, using felt underneath to give the embroidery enough thickness. I used the same technique for the Triforce.
Â
THE WIG
I bought a Raphtalia wig that I used. Back then (in 2020) it was the only one with the right colour shade. I think now you can find the perfect shade elsewhere. If I had to remake it, I would take a frontlace wig.
